The Team Is In their 6th year of exsitence in the
N.A.B.A. This team originated back in 1999
when they were orginaly called the Cordova Firebirds, seven players still
remain from that team Dan Lowery, Donnie Logsdon, Keith Warmack, James
Mitchell, and Tim Rushing, and Steve Johnson although Johnson was lost to free agency in 2002 to only resign with us in 2003, also Euti Nino returns this year after a 2 year stint with the BlackSox like Johnson, Nino was on the original FireBird team and Championship Team. The first year in the N.A.B.A. they were
placed in the lowest divison in the 18 and over, the 18a divison where they
posted a 19-3 regular season, winning thier divison and then went on to win
their first playoff game to advance to the finals, only to have their win
taken from them in a controversial decision....their season ended with
something to prove.

Their second season saw some changes in players picking up Aaron
Dickson, and Luke Evans, as the league made a move to straighten out the
divisons they placed 20 teams in the 18aa and this was a big test for the
Firebirds as they now were playing against the best N.A.B.A. had to offer.
They started the season slowly and played about .500 ball until late in the
season when the team caught fire winning 5 of their last 6 games in the
season and getting the second place in their divison going 14-7, they
stormed through the playoffs advancing to the Championship after going 3-0
in the first 3 playoff games while scoring 41 runs in those games. The
Championship games were no different Winning the best of 3 series in 2
games 16-10 and 14-10, for a total of 67 runs in their 5 playoff games,
the Firebirds were N.A.B.A. Champs and made a name for themselves in this
league.

The third season was much like the season before not many changes in
players and the same results on the field as well going 14-7-1 for the
second consecutive year but unlike the year before the Firebirds were
eliminated from the playoffs in the first round, suffering their first
playoff lost in the N.A.B.A. and ending a very disapointing season and alot
of unhappy players leaving the team in a direction they have not seen
before.

In our forth season 2002 there were many changes including the lost of Euti Nino, and Steve Johnson.  Also a change in team name to the Cordova Brewers.  This year had its ups and downs until they picked up of a couple talents Gabe Riley, and Lamar Martin they help turn the team around along with the continus emergence of Aaron Dickson who became one of the top stars in the league.  We finished in 3rd place 13-9 and played the defending champion Sac Firebirds in the first round of the playoffs and were handed their second consecutive first round exit from the playoffs.

In 2003 it became the most unsuccesful season to date posting a 8-12-2 record and just never getting anything going,  although picking up 2 key players for are future drafting Eric Critchley who suffered a injury early on and never got to show his talents, also picking up free agent Jason Hill who at the end of the season along with Steve Johnson became a Nice 1-2 combo in the pitching department to save some face and a small hope for 2004.....and for the first time a unusual feeling for this team No Playoffs

2004 was a rollercoaster season. After starting 3-3 the Newly named Redsox ran off a string of 9 straight wins only to be proceeded by 5 loses in 8 games. Limping into the playoffs the Redsox came together and found its winning ways. They beat the Royals in game 1 of the playoffs and found themselves squaring off against their hated rivals the Elk Grove A's. In what turned out to be a controversial ending to great game the Redsox were awarded a forfeit win, when the A's were unable to field a team after having players ejected in the 3rd inning. The Redsox needed only to beat the Yankees for a NABA title. Losing the 1st game of a best of 3 games series, Redsox players and fans were pushed to the brink of elimination in game 2 when the Yankees jumped out to big lead. Thoughts of sweep were quickly erased by a 22-9 thumping in game 2. In a winner take all game, fans of both teams were treated to a great game only to see the Redsox falter in the 9th inning and lose.
